SEO – Search Engine Optimization – Key Lessons

Key Lessons for Search Engine Optimization

Here are some of the key lessons when starting out on your SEO journey:

  • Don’t underestimate the power of SEO – a website and presence on social media websites are a great start to get your dental practice out on the internet. A website, Facebook and Twitter will get you some traffic; however only good web design, web development and web marketing will bring substantial traffic that translates into additional patients and ultimately revenue and profit.
  • Don’t stuff your website and blog with keywords – web design, web development and web marketing needs to take into account your specific keywords; don’t overdo it! Stuffing your website and blog with keywords will only back-fire.
  • Pure Flash does not work well with search engines – Good web design uses Flash, it is cool; however Flash does not get picked up by search engines. Make sure you have an HTML version.
  • Impress both the reader and the search engine – and in that sequence. Write meaningful content in a conversational tone, then think of the search engine algorithms.

Social Media Growth and Implications for Dental Web Solutions and Design

65% percent of all US adults now use social-networking sites, up from just 5% in 2005. The biggest growth comes from the age group of over 30, with seniors accounting for the majority of it. Surprising to many dentists will be that one-third of adults ages 65 and older say they now use social-networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Tumblr. This has big implications for web design, web development for dentists and the dental profession. Their websites need to embrace social media and the huge growth phenomenon associated with it.
